I was thinking today: What sets dentists apart from one other? Most dentists claim to be the best dentist or best cosmetic dentist, a lot of dentists in Chicago offer cosmetic work but how do you know which of those dentists are better or provide a better service?
I actually have the same problem. I know what it takes to be a good dentist. First, you have to be an artist. Dentistry is an art. You cannot be the best cosmetic dentist in Chicago if you cannot paint! Just think about it. You need to know and understand color, you need to be able to create something that is beautiful in terms of shape and translucency. So the first and the most important thing for a dentist is have an eye for art. I do not claim to be the best dentist in Chicago but I can paint beautiful paintings that is the first step for to become a good cosmetic dentist in Lincoln Park, Lakeview or even Chicago area.
What other qualifications does a dentist need to have to become a good cosmetic dentist for the residents of Chicago? S/he would need to use the best material in the market and make sure that a good dental lab makes the crown using the highest quality material? Nowadays dentists have really high overhead especially in Chicago area so they started saving money by switching to dental material that are not superb but more economical so the extra money can go towards marketing and bring them up on google search for example. As a patient you would not know that and you just need to trust your dentist but it is not that difficult for you to see that your dentist actually truly cares about you and loves being a dentist and does not only focus on the overhead of the practice.
So when you Google the best cosmetic dentist in Chicago, are you really finding the best cosmetic dentist? Not necessarily, in reality, you are just actually seeing those who spent more money on marketing and found a good company to help them get their website on the first page of Google. Are they really spending money on good material and a good lab to make a good crown? You would not know that.
The other important factor is for you dentist to use dental magnification glasses with a headlight on it. Those are referred to as dental loupes. It is hard to see the very small detail the dentist need to see to make good veneers and crowns.
Another issue maybe the use on in house crown making machines referred to as same day crowns using Cerec machine. There are different types of materials with different pricing and strength and quality used for those machines and having your crown done on the same day does not necessarily mean that you will get the best crown, it just means you will get the crown delivered on the same day.
